The Township of Nipissing Council is inviting letters of interest from those
wishing to become a member of a newly formed committee to work towards
improving and maintaining the natural environment of our community.

This Committee will be made up of people who have an interest in the outdoors and wildlife and who would like to help create, participate in and monitor projects in our community to help enhance and protect the natural beauty that abounds in our Township.

The first project to be undertaken by the Committee members will be to create a “Terms of Reference” for the group to use moving forward with projects. This Committee will be under the direction of the Council of the Township of Nipissing and will report regularly to Council.

Emergency Preparedness Week is May 6 to May 12, 2012. This annual event is coordinated by Public Safety Canada, in close collaboration with the provinces and territories and partners.

Every year during the first full week of May, Canadians are reminded to be prepared for emergencies. Knowing the risks in your community, making a plan and having an emergency kit are essential should you, your family or work colleagues face an emergency situation.

Over the last year communities in Ontario contended with a variety of emergencies. When we remember the tornado in Goderich, the forest fires in northern Ontario or the flooding in Fort Albany and Kashechewan, we see how any community can be affected.

Please join in this week by practicing emergency preparedness at home, at work, and in your community.

AND TAKE FURTHER NOTICE THAT the proposed by-law will come before Council of the Township of Nipissing at its regular meeting at the Township offices at 45 Beatty Street, Nipissing, Ontario, P0H 1W0;
on the 8th day of May, 2012; at the hour of 6:30 o=clock in the evening;
