TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Thomas Butler, Dougal Culham, Tom Piper and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Charles Barton, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kevin Martin, and Al Bottomley.

The meeting was called to order at 7:20 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: None.

Al Bottomley presentation: The Goals of the Almaguin Community Committee for Enhancing our Secondary School.

Staff Reports: Kevin Martin: Fire Chief – Verbal and Written report.
Dave Yemm: Operations Superintendent – Written report.
Charles Barton: CAO-Clerk – Verbal report.
John-Paul Negrinotti: Verbal Report.

Committee Reports: None.

R2011-01 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we adopt the minutes of the closed session meeting held December 21, 2010. Carried.

R2011-02 D. Culham, T. Butler: That the minutes of the meeting held December 21, 2010 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2011-03 T.Piper, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law No. 2011-01, being a by-law to establish rates of remuneration for its Officers and Employees.
Read the first, second and third time and passed this 4th day of January, 2011.
Carried.

R2011-04 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we pass By-Law No 2011-02, being a by-law to provide for an interim tax levy.
Read the first, second and third time and passed this 4th day of January, 2011.
Carried.

R2011-05 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we accept the correspondence as presented.

R2011-06 D. Culham, T. Butler: That the statements of accounts dated January 4, 2011 be approved. $ 85,496.23. Carried.

R2011-07 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we appoint Denise Scott as member of the Township of Nipissing Fire Department. Carried.

North Bay and District Health Unit Board of Health Appointee: update regarding tie nomination.

A list of Issues raised during the 2010 election campaign were summarized and reviewed.

R2011-08 T.Piper, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law No. 2011-03, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on January 4th, 2011. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 4th day of January, 2011. Carried.

R2011-09 D. Culham, T. Butler: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 9:30 p.m. Next regular meeting January 18th, 2011. Carried.
