TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Tom Piper, Thomas Butler, Dougal Culham and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Nancy McInnis, Gabby McInnis, Madison Croskery, Mackenzie Colbourne-Tennant, Chris Clark, Branwyn Little, Jamie Anderson, Hannah Anderson, Mickey Wallace, Penelope Wallace, Dave Yemm, John-Paul Negrinotti, Rob Serson, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

The Mayor welcomed the Powassan Girl Guides, Pathfinders and Trex Units to the meeting.

R2012-30 L. Smith, T. Piper: That the minutes of the meeting held January 24, 2012 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2012-31 L. Smith, T. Piper: That the minutes of the closed session meeting held January 24, 2012 be adopted. Carried.

R2012-32 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we pass By-Law Number 2012-06 being a By-law to set tax ratios for municipal purposes for the Year 2012.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 7th day of February, 2012. Carried.

R2012-33 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we pass By-Law Number 2012-07 being a By-law to specify the annualized tax limit, prior year’s current value assessment tax limit, claw back percentages, the capping threshold parameters and the minimum tax level for new to class/new construction properties for the Township of Nipissing.

R2012-34 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2012-35 T. Piper, L. Smith: That the statement of accounts dated February 7, 2012 be approved. $54,796.91. Carried.

R2012-36 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we donate $100 to the Powassan Agricultural Society for the 2012 Fall Fair. Carried.

R2012-37 L. Smith, T. Piper: That this part of our meeting will be closed to the public as authorized by Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, c. 25, for consideration of the following subject matter:
Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees;
Time: 7:25 p.m. Carried.

R2012-38 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we resume to an open public meeting.
Time: 7:55 p.m. Carried.

R2012-39 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law Number 2012-08 being a by-law to terminate two (2) Volunteer Firefighters from the Township of Nipissing Volunteer Fire Department.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 7th day of February, 2012. Carried.

R2012-40 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the Mayor and CAO-Clerk be authorized to sign Minutes of Settlement for Court file No.11-1206. Carried.

R2012-41 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law No. 2012-09, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on February 7, 2012. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 7th day of February, 2012. Carried.

R2012-42 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 8:08 p.m. Next regular meeting February 21, 2012. Carried.
