TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Thomas Butler, Dougal Culham, Tom Piper and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Jeff Froud; Dave Yemm; John-Paul Negrinotti; Rob Serson; Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: Councillor Tom Butler.

R2013-001 T. Butler, D. Culham: That this part of our meeting will be closed to the public as authorized by Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, c. 25, for consideration of the following subject matter:
b) personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees;

R2013-007 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we pass By-Law Number 2013-02, being a By-law to terminate Volunteer Firefighters from the Township of Nipissing Volunteer Fire Department.

Councillor Tom Butler declared pecuniary interest for the discussion regarding the revised pay equity plan for the employees of the Township of Nipissing.

R2013-008 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law Number 2013-04 being a By-law to adopt a revised pay equity plan for the Township of Nipissing.

R2013-009 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we authorize the Mayor and CAO-Clerk to sign a Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund Agreement for Project No. CO130 – Rehabilitation of Community Centre. Carried.

R2013-010 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we authorize the Mayor and CAO-Clerk to sign a Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund Agreement for Project No. CO131 – Improvements to Museum Kitchen. Carried.

R2013-011 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we hereby grant permission to Storie’s Mini Mart to operate the LCBO – Agency Store located within their premises on Family Day. Carried.

R2013-012 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we hereby grant permission to Young’s South Shore Centre to operate the LCBO – Agency Store located within their premises on Family Day. Carried.

R2013-013 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we participate in the City of North Bay Household Hazardous Waste Program. Carried.

R2013-014 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we authorize Councillor Smith and the Treasurer-Deputy Clerk to attend the 2013 AMO Conference. Carried.

R2013-015 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we appoint the following members to committees for the period of January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013:

R2013-016 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we appoint John Deemer as the Casual/Part-Time Landfill Attendant. Carried.

R2013-017 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we direct the Treasurer-Deputy Clerk to proceed with tax registration on potential registerable properties. Carried.

R2013-018 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2013-019 D. Culham, T. Butler: That the statement of accounts dated December 19th, 21st, 24th, 31st, 2012; January 4th and 8th, 2013, totaling $122,018.41, be approved. Carried.

R2013-020 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we authorize the Deputy Chief and 3 Captains to attend the 2013 North Eastern Fire Education Conference. Carried.

R2013-021 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we pass By-Law No. 2013-05, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on January 8, 2013. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 8th day of January, 2013. Carried.

R2013-022 L. Smith, T. Piper: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 8:10 p.m. Next regular meeting January 22, 2013. Carried.
