The Township of Nipissing is located south of North Bay on Highway 11. Most of the Township is zoned as a recreational and rural area and hosts cottage and residential housing.
Many outdoor recreational activities are available within the Township boundaries such as: chartered fishing tours, duck hunting, ice fishing and nature tours.
There is one elementary school located in Nipissing Village. Secondary students are bused to North Bay and South River.
Communities in the Township include Nipissing and Commanda.

Did You Know?
- The Township has a “Ghost Road” which was the first settlement road in the Nipissing District. The Ghost Road now forms part of the Trans-Canada Trail.
- Nipissing borders the Loring deeryard, which is the largest deeryard in the province.
The Township is located on the south side of Lake Nipissing and is home to a number of smaller lakes – seasonal holiday camps abound which offer access to our waterways and make the Township a perfect travel destination for hunters, fishing enthusiasts and lovers of the outdoors.
