TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Tom Butler, Dougal Culham, Tom Piper and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Sandra O’Grady; Kevin O’Grady; Peter Grudnik; Donna Grudnik; Gary Halcrow; Dave Yemm; Rob Serson; Charles Barton and Kris Croskery-Hodgins.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: Councillor Tom Butler

Presentation: Sandra O’Grady gave a presentation on concerns regarding the use of fireworks in contravention of the Fireworks By-Law.

R2013-159 L. Smith, T. Piper: That the minutes of the meeting held July 16, 2013 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2013-160 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we pass By-Law No. 2013-26, being a By-law to stop up, close and sell part of the Original Shore Road Allowance in front of Lot 12, Concession 17, Township of Nipissing, being Parts 1 and 2 on Plan 42R19928.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 13th day of August, 2013. Carried.

A final review of the 125th Anniversary Celebration agenda was discussed.

R2013-161 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

Councillor Tom Butler declared pecuniary interest as his spouse is listed in the Accounts Payable as an employee.

R2013-162 T. Piper, L. Smith: That the statement of accounts dated: July 19 and August 1, 6, 7, 8, 12 and 13, 2013, totaling $361,439.41, be approved. Carried.

R2013-163 D. Culham, T. Butler: That this part of our meeting will be closed to the public as authorized by Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, c. 24, for consideration of the following subject matter:
e) litigation or potential litigation, including matters before administrative tribunals, affecting the municipality or local board;
f) advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose;

R2013-164 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we resume to an open public meeting. Time: 7:40 p.m. Carried.

R2013-165 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we authorize Dougal Culham, Kris Croskery-Hodgins, Tom Butler, Liz Smith, Tom Piper and Pat Haufe to attend the fall meeting of the District of Parry Sound Municipal Association. Carried.

R2013-166 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the Township of Nipissing offers to host the spring meeting of the District of Parry Sound Municipal Association. Carried.

R2013-167 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we pass By-Law No. 2013-27, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on August 13, 2013. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 13th day of August, 2013. Carried.

R2013-168 L. Smith, T. Piper: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 8:18 p.m. Next regular meeting September 3, 2013. Carried.
