TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.

Present: Mayor Wendy Prieur and Councillors Kalvin Young, Leslee Lawrence Straus, Pat Haufe and Dougal Culham.

Staff and visitors present: Dave Yemm, John Paul Negrinotti, Kevin Martin, Sharon Martin, Will Bateman, Wally Wilkes, Dyane McCullough, Steve Salonin and Kris Croskery.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Presentation: Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office, represented by Dyane McCullough and Steve Salonin. The Fire Services Review completed document was discussed.

R2009-179 K. Young, L. Lawrence Straus: That this part of our meeting will be closed to the public as authorized by Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, c. 25, for consideration of the following subject matter:

R2009-181 L. Lawrence Straus, K. Young: That the minutes of June 2, 2009 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2009-182 D. Culham, P. Haufe: That we pass By-Law No. 2009-38, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on June 2, 2009. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 16th day of June, 2009. Carried.

R2009-183 P. Haufe, D. Culham: WHEREAS a draft Memorandum of Understanding for Health System Emergency Preparedness Support has been presented to Council for consideration;

AND WHEREAS this Memorandum of Understanding is a mutual aid agreement and a totally voluntary program between cooperating agencies;

AND WHEREAS the purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to establish a working relationship between the North Bay General Hospital, the area townships/municipalities and other community partners to assist in one or more ways during a pandemic which “exceeds the effective response capability of the impacted health care facility”;

NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Township of Nipissing supports this initiative.

R2009-184a L. Lawrence Straus, K. Young: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2009-184b P. Haufe, D. Culham: That the statement of accounts dated June 16, 2009 be approved. $262,835.14. Carried.

R2009-185 K. Young, L. Lawrence Straus: That we proceed with a Request for Proposal for engineered drawings for Fire Hall Addition for Station #1. Carried.

R2009-186 D. Culham, P. Haufe: That we proceed with obtaining quotes for improvements to the Public Works Garage. Carried.

R2009-187 L. Lawrence Straus, K. Young: That we proceed with tendering for the Wassi Falls Subdivision Quarried Road Rehabilitation. Carried.

R2009-188 K. Young, L. Lawrence Straus: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 8:22 p.m. Next meeting July 14, 2009. Carried.
