TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Tom Butler, Dougal Culham, Tom Piper and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: John-Paul Negrinotti, Rob Serson, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

Guests: Armand Despres, Despres Pacey Insurance

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: Councillor Tom Butler.

Armand Despres provided an overview of the 2014-2015 insurance renewal with Frank Cowan Insurance Company.

R2014-122 D. Culham, T. Butler: That the minutes of the meeting held June 10, 2014 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2014-123 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we accept the renewal proposal for the Township’s Insurance received from Frank Cowan Co. for 2014-2015. Carried.

R2014-124 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law Number 2014-28, being a By-law to stop up, close and sell part of the Original Shore Road Allowance in front of Broken Lot 12, Concession 16, Township of Nipissing, being Part 1 on Plan 42R-20134.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this the 24th day of June, 2014. Carried.

R2014-125 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we pass By-Law Number 2014-29, being a By-law to appoint a Compliance Audit Committee under the Municipal Elections Act for the Corporation of the Township of Nipissing.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this the 24th day of June, 2014. Carried.

R2014-126 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we accept the Employee Benefit Proposal provided by Meldrum Horne & Associates. Carried.

R2014-127 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we accept the Quotation from McCabe Masonry for the repair of parging on the west and south walls on the Township of Nipissing office for $1,200.00 including applicable taxes. Carried.

R2014-128 T. Piper, L. Smith: BE IT RESOLVED THAT the “Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan” be received;
AND FURTHER THAT the Council of the Township of Nipissing is committed to the promotion of responsible energy management, through the implementation of economically viable energy efficiencies and environmental care throughout all facilities and equipment. Carried.

R2014-129 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

Councillor Tom Butler declared pecuniary interest as his Spouse is an Employee of the Township.

R2014-130 L. Smith, T. Piper: That the statement of accounts dated: June 19 and 24, 2014. Totalling $114,785.64, be approved. Carried.

R2014-131 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we pass By-Law No. 2014-30, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on June 24, 2014. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 24th day of June, 2014. Carried.

R2014-132 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 8:47 p.m. Next regular meeting July 15, 2014. Carried.
