A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Tom Butler, Dougal Culham, Tom Piper and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Dave Yemm, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

Guests: Wendy Billingsley, Powassan and District Union Public Library Board

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: Councillor Tom Butler and Councillor Liz Smith.

Wendy Billingsley provided information on behalf of the Powassan and District Union Public Library regarding a funding commitment for the expansion project – sewer line relocation. Council directed that a Resolution of support be drafted for consideration at the August 12, 2014 Council meeting.

R2014-133 L. Smith, T. Piper: That the minutes of the meeting held June 24, 2014 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2014-134 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we pass By-Law Number 2014-31, being a By-law to enter into a Joint Jurisdiction Highway and Connecting Road Routine Maintenance and Repair Agreement with the Corporation of the Municipality of Callander.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this the 24th day of June, 2014. Carried.

The 2014 Budget to-date was reviewed.

R2014-135 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

Councillor Tom Butler declared pecuniary interest as his Spouse is an Employee of the Township.
Councillor Liz Smith declared pecuniary interest as her Employer is listed in the accounts.

R2014-136 D. Culham, T. Piper: That the statement of accounts dated: July 3, 4, 8, 11 and 15, 2014. Totalling $409,411.90, be approved. Carried.

R2014-137 L. Smith, T. Butler: That we obtain the services of Discovery Routes to apply for a grant for trail building purposes as described in the J.P. Webster Nature Preserve Trans Canada Feasibility Study. Carried.

R2014-138 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we accept a quote received from Akfit Fitness Superstore to supply and install new fitness centre equipment. Tender amount $34,002.81 including applicable taxes. Carried.

R2014-139 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we pass By-Law No. 2014-32, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on July 15, 2014. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 15th day of July, 2014. Carried.

R2014-140 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 8:14 p.m. Next regular meeting August 12, 2014. Carried.
