A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Tom Butler, Tom Piper and Liz Smith.

Regrets: Councillor Dougal Culham

Staff and visitors present: Faith Scott, Dave Yemm, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

R2014-178 T. Butler, T. Piper: That the minutes of the meeting held October 7, 2014 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2014-179 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we pass By-Law Number 2014-40, being a By-law to enter into a Municipal Funding Agreement in order to participate in the Federal Gas Tax Fund.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 21st day of October, 2014. Carried.

R2014-180 L. Smith, T. Butler: WHEREAS a recent interest arbitration award between Eastholme Home for the Aged and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 1339-00 has provided that Eastholme shall pay $280,000 retroactive wage payments in respect of 2012 and 2013 and incur a wage increase cost of $180,000 for 2014;
AND WHEREAS the Province has not provided base funding to Eastholme for this award;
AND WHEREAS the impact of downloading this cost to the supporting municipalities will be a severe hardship;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Township of Nipissing does hereby support the Eastholme Board of Management for a request to the Province for financial assistance; and further that the Province consider an annual payment to Eastholme in respect to the unincorporated townships in the eastern section of the Parry Sound District. Carried.

R2014-182 T. Butler, L. Smith: That the statement of accounts dated: October 9 and 21, 2014, totaling $68,022.05, be approved. Carried.

R2014-183 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we set a regular Council meeting for December 2, 2014. Carried.

R2014- 184 T. Butler, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law No. 2014-41, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on October 21, 2014. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 21st day of October, 2014. Carried.

R2014-185 T. Piper, L. Smith: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 7:35 p.m. Next regular meeting November 18, 2014. Carried.
