TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING
Tuesday, May 12, 2015

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Tom Butler, Dougal Culham, Tom Piper and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Doug Walli, Rob Serson, Dave Yemm, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: None.

Presentation regarding Road Side Cutting and the concern for Monarch Butterfly Habitat was not provided.

Staff Reports: Dave Yemm, Operations Superintendent – verbal and written report.

R2015-76 T. Piper, L. Smith: That this part of our meeting will be closed to the public as authorized by Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, c. 25, for consideration of the following subject matter:
b) personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees. Time: 6:43 p.m. Carried.

R2015-77 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we resume to an open public meeting. Time: 6:56 p.m. Carried.

R2015-78 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the minutes of the meeting held April 21, 2015 be adopted as published. Carried.

Consent Application B/7/Nipissing/2015, Brenner – Create a New Lot was deferred and will be placed on a future agenda pending the receipt of required information.

Council discussed its membership within the North Almaguin Planning Board and proposed improvements to communication with its appointed members. More information on this matter will be discussed at a future Council meeting.

R2015-79 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we accept the quote for Sand Dome Re-shingling from Harris Roofing for the amount of $31,357.50, HST included. Carried.

R2015-80 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we pass By-Law Number 2015-15, being a By-law to authorize the entering into and execution of a Shared Fire Apparatus Agreement between the Township of Nipissing and the Municipality of Callander.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 12th day of May, 2015. Carried.

R2015-81 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2015-82 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the statement of accounts dated: April 23 and May 7, 11 and 12, 2015, totaling $127,764.84, be approved. Carried.

R2015-83 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we accept the quote from Brian Ellis Plumbing for the supply and install of a kitchen sink, faucets, waterlines and drain in the Museum Office Building to meet Board of Health requirements. Total quote $598.90 including HST for materials and labour. Carried.

R2015-84 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we accept the quote from Brian Ellis Plumbing for the supply and installation of a Trojan Pro 10 UV System for the Township Garage, Office, Museum and Rink water supply, per Board of Health requirements. Total quote $2,536.85 including HST for materials and labour. Carried.

R2015-85 D. Culham, T. Butler: That this part of our meeting will be closed to the public as authorized by Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, c. 25, for consideration of the following subject matter:
e) litigation or potential litigation, including matters before administrative tribunals, affecting the municipality or local board.
Time: 8:34 p.m. Carried.

R2015-86 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we resume to an open public meeting. Time: 9:00 p.m. Carried.

R2015-87 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law No. 2015-16, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on May 12, 2015. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 12th day of May, 2015. Carried.

R2015-88 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 9:02 p.m. Next regular meeting May 26, 2015. Carried.
