TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING
Tuesday, June 23, 2015

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015.

Present: Mayor Pat Haufe and Councillors Dougal Culham, Tom Butler, Tom Piper and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Doug Walli, Rob Serson, Dave Yemm, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

R2015-118 L. Smith, T. Piper: That the minutes of the meeting held June 9, 2015 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2015-119 T. Butler, D. Culham: That the Council for The Corporation of the Township of Nipissing approves the establishment of a Joint Shared Fire Services Review Committee with The Corporation of the Municipality of Callander to undertake the following:
• Contribute to the development of a Feasibility study exploring alternatives regarding the future of Shared Fire Services between the Municipality of Callander and the Township of Nipissing;
• Provide Council with updates and information regarding the Joint Review of Shared Fire Services; and
That the Council for the Township of Nipissing appoints Mayor Pat Haufe, Councillor Tom Piper and the CAO-Clerk to represent the Township of Nipissing on the Joint Committee described above. Carried.

R2015-120 T. Piper, L. Smith: That we authorize the CAO-Clerk to extend an Offer of Employment to Jeff Conrad. Carried.

R2015-121 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we accept the resignation of Jane Howse from the Township of Nipissing Recreation Committee. Carried.

R2015-122 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we approve Policy Number 2015-01 – Landfill Declaration Form. Carried.

Council reviewed the final draft of the June 2015 Newsletter.

R2015-123 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we authorize the CAO-Clerk to sign a lease agreement with Xerox for a new office photocopier. Carried.

R2015-124 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

Councillor Tom Butler declared pecuniary interest for the June 9, 2015 and June 23, 2015 Accounts Payable as his spouse is an employee of the Township and is listed in the Payroll Payable.

R2015-125 T. Piper, L. Smith: That the statement of accounts dated: June 17 and 23, 2015, totaling $ 232,427.72, be approved. Carried.

R2015-126 D. Culham, T. Butler: That we contribute $5,000 towards the construction of a new winter vault at the Powassan Union Cemetery. Carried.

Charles Barton, CAO-Clerk provided a general overview of the Draft Official Plan to be available at the Open House meetings taking place June 24, 2015.

R2015-127 D. Culham, T. Butler: That this part of our meeting will be closed to the public as authorized by Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, c. 25, for consideration of the following subject matter:
e) litigation or potential litigation, including matters before administrative tribunals, affecting the municipality or local board;

R2015-128 T. Butler, D. Culham: That we resume to an open public meeting. Time: 8:46 p.m. Carried.

R2015-129 L. Smith, T. Piper: That we pass By-Law No. 2015-21, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on June 23, 2015. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 23rd day of June, 2015. Carried.

R2015-130 D. Culham, T. Butler: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 8:57 p.m. Next regular meeting July 14, 2015. Carried.
