TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING CEMETERY COMMITTEE
DEFINITIONS AND POLICIES
AS AT SEPTEMBER 8, 2009

Township of Nipissing Cemetery Committee – a board appointed by the Council of the Township of Nipissing to administer cemeteries in the Township of Nipissing.
Cemetery – may be the Nipissing Union Cemetery, the Commanda Union Cemetery or the St. Johns’s Alsace Cemetery.
Township Resident – a person having at least one years residence in the Township of Nipissing at the date of application for a burial lot. A person residing at Eastholme Home for the Aged who was a resident of the Township for at least one year immediately prior to entering the home for the aged.
Non Resident property owner – a person who owns property in the Township of Nipissing for at least one year prior to the date of application for a Burial Lot.
Non Resident – a person who does not own property or reside in the Township of Nipissing.

Burial Lot – Regular – size 9′ x 4.5′
Block 14 for Cremations 2′ x 4′

Tariff Rates – rates charged for burial lots in the Township of Nipissing cemeteries.
Registered Owner is the person who will be buried in a burial lot. All lots must be designated “i.e. who is to be buried in them” at the time of purchase.
Rights of Internment shall be defined as the placement of one full size formal casket, with or without internment vault; or, the placement of up to two (2) cremated remains in one regular burial lot. Block 14 for the placement of one (1) cremation remains.
All lot sales must be paid in full at time of purchase. Any person may purchase up to two single lots at the tariff rate applicable to the registered owner of the lot.
The Cemetery Committee may repurchase any lot previously sold or conveyed in which no interment has been made.
Lots may not be transferred without the approval of the Township of Nipissing Cemetery Committee. The Cemetery Committee may repurchase the Burial Lot at the original purchase price and convey the lot at the present tariff rate applicable to the proposed transferee.
No monument is to be installed without permission and supervision by the caretaker.
*Sale of pre need lots in St. Johns Alsace Cemetery discontinued.

Tariff Rates:
Township Resident – Single Lot $200.00 ; Cremation Lot $75.00.
Non Resident Property Owner – Single Lot $200.00; Cremation Lot $75.00.
Non Resident – Single Lot $400.00; Cremation Lot $150.00.

Interment Rates: Regular Grave opening: weekdays $300.00; Saturday $400.00
Cremation opening: weekdays $150.00; Saturday $200.00

The fee to transfer ownership of a cemetery lot will be $2.00.
Perpetual Care rate $150.00 for burial lots previously sold but perpetual care was not paid.
That no flowers, trees or shrubs be planted without approval of the Cemetery Committee. No fence of any type to be erected around graves.
That any new lot sold in the unsurveyed portion of the Nipissing and Commanda Cemeteries require corner marker stones as supplied by a monument company.
That there shall be no burials on a Sunday.

That prior to the finalization of burial arrangements the Cemetery Caretaker must be consulted.
Flat marker: Block 14 – one (1) per lot.
Regular Lot – maximum one (1) per lot, with the exception of Veteran monument.
Upright monument: Regular Lot – one (1) per lot, with the exception of Veteran monument. Block 14 – flat marker only.

Cost for Full Foundation: Under 36 inches $200.00
36 to 48 inches $300.00
48 to 60 inches $400.00
Pad Base (Flat marker): $100.00
Install ground setting marker $35.00
