TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING
Tuesday, June 7, 2016

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.

Present: Mayor Tom Piper, Councillors Linda Andersen, Tom Butler and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Heinz Keller, Rose Marie Keller, Kathy Broughton, Tammy Richard, Tammy Yemm, P.A. Blackburn, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: None.

CAO-Clerk Charles Barton announced the resignation of Mayor Pat Haufe due to health challenges effective May 31, 2016.

R2016-121 L. Smith, T. Butler: That we pass By-Law Number 2016-30, being a By-Law to appoint a Mayor.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 7th day of June, 2016. Carried.

Tom Piper was sworn into the office of Mayor.

R2016-122 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we pass By-Law Number 2016-31, being a By-Law to appoint a Deputy Mayor.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 7th day of June, 2016. Carried.

Liz Smith was appointed Deputy Mayor.

R2016-123 L. Andersen, T. Butler: BE IT RESOLVED THAT, as per Section 262 (1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Nipissing hereby declares the seat of one (1) Councillor to be vacant. Carried.

R2016-124 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That the minutes of the meeting held May 24, 2016 be adopted as published. Carried.

The meeting was declared a public meeting pursuant to the provisions of Section 34 (12) of the Planning Act, R.S.O., 1990, to discuss applications for a change to Zoning By-Law 2012-12 by Heinz and Rose Marie Kellar and Kevin and Tammy Yemm.

R2016-126 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we award Tender N-01-16, Winter Sand to: A. Miron Topsoil. For a total amount, including applicable taxes: $28,476. Carried.

R2016-127 L. Smith, L. Andersen: That we award Tender N-02-16, Quarried Granite – Stockpiled to: Evan Hughes Excavating. For a total amount, including applicable taxes: $37,572.50. Carried.

R2016-128 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we award Tender N-03-16, Quarried Granite – Supply, Crush and Apply to: Evan Hughes Excavating. For a total amount, including applicable taxes: $175,087.85. Carried.

R2016-129 L. Smith, T. Butler: That we award Tender N-04-16, Surface Treatment to: Bruell Contracting Limited. For a total amount, including applicable taxes: $72, 705.05. Carried.

R2016-130 L. Smith, T. Butler: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2016-131 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That the statement of accounts dated June 2, 6 and 7, 2016; totaling $82,660.55, be approved. Carried.

R2016-132 L. Smith, L. Andersen: That we pass By-Law Number 2016-33, being a By-law to establish a Municipal Health and Safety Policy and Procedures Manual for all Employees of the Township of Nipissing.

R2016-133 L. Smith, L. Andersen: That we pass By-Law No. 2016-34, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on June 7, 2016. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 7th day of June, 2016. Carried.

R2016-134 T. Butler, L. Smith: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 7:50 p.m. Next regular meeting June 21, 2016. Carried.
