TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016.

Present: Mayor Tom Piper, Councillors Linda Andersen, Tom Butler, Tom Marchant and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Steve McArthur, Dave Yemm, Will Bateman, Todd Daley, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

R2016-162 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That the minutes of the meeting held July 12, 2016 be adopted as published. Carried.

Presentation from Steve McArthur, Account Manager for the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) regarding the 2017 Property Assessment Notices process.

The most recent revisions to the Official Plan Review were distributed to Council for review prior to the next Official Plan Open House Meeting.

A draft copy of a Code of Conduct Policy was circulated to Council for comment. A final draft of the document will be placed on the September 6, 2016 Council Agenda.

R2016-163 L. Smith, T. Marchant: That we pass By-Law Number 2016-40, being a By-law to appoint a Fire Chief for the Township of Nipissing Fire Department.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 9th day of August, 2016. Carried.

R2016-164 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That we authorize Tender N-06-16, Surface Treatment, be extended an additional 1.15 km on Lake Nipissing Road;
And that Bruell Contracting will perform the work in accordance with the original Tender pricing provided. Carried.

R2016-165 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That the Township of Nipissing agrees to renew the Mutual Assistance Agreement for the provision of personnel, service, equipment or materials during an emergency. Carried.

R2016-166 L. Smith, T. Marchant: That we authorize: Tom Piper, Liz Smith and Tom Marchant to attend the District of Parry Sound Municipal Association Fall meeting, September 30, 2016 in Parry Sound. Carried.

R2016-167 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2016-168 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That the statement of accounts dated July 14, 26 and 28, August 9, 2016; totaling $451,835.30, be approved. Carried.

R2016-169 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we accept the resignation of Jean Siple from the Nipissing Township Museum Board. Carried.

R2016-170 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That we accept the proposal from Security Today for Proximity Card Access Systems for the Fire Stations in the Township of Nipissing. Carried.

R2016-171 L. Smith, T. Marchant: That we pass By-Law No. 2016-41, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on August 9, 2016. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 9th day of August, 2016. Carried.

R2016-172 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 9:35 p.m. Next regular meeting September 6, 2016. Carried.
