A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.

Present: Mayor Wendy Prieur and Councillors Leslee Lawrence Straus, Pat Haufe and Dougal Culham.

Regrets: Councillor Kalvin Young

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

R2010-013 L. Lawrence Straus, P. Haufe: That Council authorizes the CAO-Clerk to sign and submit an application to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for a Youth Intern position. Carried.

R2010-014 P. Haufe, D. Culham: That Council adopts new Nipissing Community Centre Rental Contracts. Carried.

R2010-015 D. Culham, L. Lawrence Straus: Council adopts the Fire Chief – Self Performance Evaluation form for Human Resources. Carried.

R2010-016 L. Lawrence Straus, P. Haufe: That Council authorizes the Treasurer-Deputy Clerk to submit an application for funding for Canada Day events planned in 2010. Carried.

R2010-017 D. Culham, P. Haufe: That we hereby grant permission to Storie’s Mini Mart to operate the LCBO – Agency Store located within their premises on February 16, 2010, Family Day. Carried.

R2010-018 L. Lawrence Straus, P. Haufe: That we hereby grant permission to Young’s South Shore Centre to operate the LCBO-Agency Store located within their premises on February 16, 2010, Family Day. Carried.

R2010-019 L. Lawrence Straus, P. Haufe: That we authorize the CAO-Clerk to execute the Ministry of the Environment Application for Approval of Municipal and Private Sewage Works for Adventure Camp Ohio declaring that the Township of Nipissing has no basic objections to the construction of the works in the Township of Nipissing provided that the sewage works receives approval from the Ministry of the Environment and any other agencies and meets all applicable setbacks on the proposed project. Carried.

R2010-020 D. Culham, L. Lawrence Straus: That we pass By-law Number 2010-06 being a by-law to provide for advance vote to be held prior to voting day.

Read a first, second and third time and passed this 19th day of January, 2010. Carried.

R2010-021 D. Culham, P. Haufe: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2010-022 L. Lawrence Straus, D. Culham: That the statement of accounts dated January 19, 2010 be approved. $137,599.35. Carried.

R2010-023 D. Culham, P. Haufe: That we donate $250 to the Municipal Working Group for Friday Social Event NorthEastern Firefighters Conference for the 2010 Conference. Carried.

R2010-024 L. Lawrence Straus, P. Haufe: That we approve the purchase of a cooler for the Community Centre from TransCanada Store and Restaurant Supplies Ltd. For a cost of $2,819.35 including all applicable taxes. Carried.

R2010-025 P. Haufe, D. Culham: That we participate in the City of North Bay Household Hazardous Waste program based on a $2.00 per household fee, the total for 2010 being $2324. Carried,

R2010-026 D. Culham, P, Haufe: That we pass By-Law No. 2010-07 being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meetings held on January 19, 2010. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 19th day of January, 2010. Carried.

R2010-027 L. Lawrence Straus, D. Culham: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 8:00 p.m. Next meeting February 2, 2010. Carried.
