TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING
Tuesday, January 2, 2018

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

Present: Mayor Tom Piper, Councillors Linda Andersen, Tom Butler, Tom Marchant and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Diane Treguna, Dave Yemm, Will Bateman, Richard Chapman, Whitney Gardiner, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: None.

Staff Reports: Dave Yemm, Operations Superintendent –verbal and written report.
John-Paul Negrinotti, EDO-CEMC-Planning Assistant – verbal report.
Will Bateman, Deputy Fire Chief – written report.
Kris Croskery-Hodgins, Treasurer-Deputy Clerk – verbal report.
Charles Barton, CAO-Clerk – verbal report.

Committee Reports:

R2018-001 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That the minutes of the meeting held December 19, 2017 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2018-002 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That the minutes of the closed session meeting held December 19, 2017 be adopted. Carried.

R2018-003 L. Smith, T. Marchant: WHEREAS the South Shore/Restoule Snowmobile Club has requested permission to use an unopened road allowance within the Township of Nipissing;
AND WHEREAS a public discussion regarding the location of the proposed use took place at the December 19, 2017 Council meeting;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Township of Nipissing hereby acknowledges the use of the following road allowance;
a) Between Concession A, Lot 190-191 and Concession 2, Lot 30. Carried.

R2018-004 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That we pass By-Law Number 2018-01, being a By-Law to appoint a Fire Chief for the Township of Nipissing Fire Department.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 2nd day of January, 2018. Carried.
Will Bateman is the Fire Chief for the Township of Nipissing.

R2018-005 L. Smith, T. Marchant: That we pass By-Law Number 2018-02, being a By-Law to appoint a Deputy Fire Chief for the Township of Nipissing Fire Department.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 2nd day of January, 2018. Carried.
Richard Chapman is the Deputy Fire Chief for the Township of Nipissing.

R2018-006 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we pass By-Law Number 2018-03, being a By-Law to provide for an Interim Tax Levy.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 2nd day of January, 2018. Carried.

R2018-007 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That we hereby grant permission to Foote’s General Store to operate the LCBO-Agency Store located within their premises on Family Day. Carried.

R2018-008 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That we hereby grant permission to Young’s South Shore Centre to operate the LCBO-Agency Store located within their premises on Family Day. Carried.

R2018-009 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we authorize: Liz Smith and Kris Croskery-Hodgins
to attend the 2018 AMO Annual Conference being held in Ottawa, August 19-22, 2018. Carried.

Council reviewed the draft January newsletter.

R2018-010 L. Smith, T. Marchant: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2018-011 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That the statement of accounts dated: December 27 and28, 2017 and January 2, 2018; totaling $122,356.88, be approved. Carried.

R2018-012 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law No. 2018-04, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on January 2, 2018. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 2nd day of January, 2018. Carried.

R2018-013 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 7:10 p.m. Next regular meeting January 16, 2018. Carried.
