The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks North Bay Area Office received notification today of a possible harmful algal bloom in Ruth Lake, Township of Nipissing

Ministry staff conducted a site visit today to collect a sample which will be sent to the lab for analysis.

Sample Results will be shared once they become available.

It is important to note that in addition to the nuisance (fouling) and aesthetic (smell) problems caused by blue-green algal blooms, several species of cyanobacteria have the ability to create toxins.
