Visitย Register To Voteย to register, update any information that may not be current, and confirm details (residence, mailing address, spelling of name, date of birth, and school board support). Changes can be made online until August. 12, 2026.
On September 1, 2026, applications for additions, corrections or deletions from the voterโs list may be made by completing and filing a revision form at the Township Office, 45 Beatty Street.
All applications for revision must be on the designated form, properly completed and signed. Photo-identification and proof of qualifying address will be required. Changes can be made up to and including Voting Day (October. 26, 2026).

Voter Qualifications:
A person is entitled to be an elector at an election held in a local Municipality if, on voting day they:
- Reside in the local municipality or is the spouse of such owner or tenant.
- Is a Canadian citizen.
- Is at least 18 years old; and is not prohibited from voting under subsection (3) or otherwise by law. (Municipal Elections Act, 1996)

Showing Identification before you Vote in Person:
When you arrive to vote in person, you must show identification to prove that you are the person whose name appears on the votersโ list. The identification must show your name and address. Photo identification is not required.
Examples of identification include:
- Ontario driverโs licence
- Ontario health card (if your name and address are printed on the card)
- Mortgage, lease or rental agreement
- Insurance policy
- Credit card statement
- Bill for hydro, water, gas, telephone, cable TV
A Canadian passport is not an acceptable identification document because you write your address inside your passport yourself.

These nominations will be certified and a complete list of names and contact information will be posted after the nominations have closed on August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

What To Expect As A Member of Council:
- Regular Council Meetings are scheduled for Tuesdays starting at 6:30 p.m.
- Meetings are held at the Township of Nipissing Community Centre located at 2381 Highway 654.
- July, August and November have one (1) meeting per month. All other months have two (2) meetings per month.
- Meetings average 1-2 hours in length and are open to public attendance as well as livestreamed.

To Run For The Position Of Mayor Or Council You Must Be:
- A Canadian Citizen
- At Least 18 Years of Age
- Eligible to Vote in The Township of Nipissing
- Not disqualified to hold office by any legislation
- A Resident of The Township of Nipissing or the Owner or Tenant of Property in The Township of Nipissing (or the spouse of an Owner or Tenant.)
