Walleye and Bass Fishing:

The Township of Nipissing outlines the beautiful South Bay of Lake Nipissing, which is known to be a top ten walleye and bass lake in Ontario. Not only does this area provide one of the largest protected fishing area on the lake, it also boasts some of the most breathtaking sunsets in the world. The South Bay of Lake Nipissing is filled with many islands, coves, rocky shoals and drop-offs.

Rich Historical Significance:

A large designated wetland located in Fish Bay is also attached to this area providing an enriched ecosystem and feeding ground for fish in years to come. This destination has brought many tourists from around the world because of its picturesque setting, clean waters, great fishing and rich historical significance to the Province of Ontario. Museums are found in this area at two locations.

The Township of Nipissing’s Museum is located in the village of Nipissing and is made from hand-hewn logs built by craftsman in the late 1800’s. The main building is one of the oldest churches in the diocese of Algoma.

The Commanda Heritage Centre is a unique example of late 19th century Victorian commercial architecture. Commanda’s central location on the old Rousseau-Nipissing settlers route continues today as the central location for visitors for the whole region.
