Municipal Elections Act (Section 23)

The preliminary list of all electors prepared as required by the Municipal Elections Act will be publicly posted in the Office of the Municipal Clerk on: Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

Electors should examine the list to ensure that their names and relevant information are correctly shown.

Application forms to make additions or corrections to, or deletions from the list will be available at the Municipal Office on: Tuesday September 4, 2018.

The last day to make additions, corrections or deletions is: Monday October 22, 2018.

Proxy Applications will be accepted at the Clerk’s Office during regular office hours and on the day of the Advance Vote from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Clerk’s Office. The last day for making application to the Clerk for a certificate to vote by proxy is Monday, October 22, 2018.

Welcome to the Township of Nipissing Elections page. This site is written and maintained by the Clerks Department of the Township of Nipissing and the only official source for municipal election information for Nipissing eligible candidates and voters.

The next municipal election will be held Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.

Voters in the Province of Ontario will elect Mayors, Councillors and School Board Trustees.

As per the Ontario Municipal Elections Act, 1996, nomination papers for candidates for Municipal and school board elections can be filed from May 1, 2018, at which time the campaign period will begin.

NOTICE is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the
Township of Nipissing

Nominations in the Township of Nipissing for the offices of:

Mayor (1)
Councillor (4)

may be made by completing and filing in the office of the Clerk, nominations on the prescribed form and accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $200.00 for the Head of Council and $100 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, certified cheque, money order or electronic payment if specified by the Clerk.

A nomination must be signed by the candidate and may be filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours between May 1, 2018 and July 26, 2018, and between 9 a.m. and 2 pm on July 27, 2018 (Nomination Day).

In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm and such additional nominations, if required, may be filed in the office of the Clerk.

Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the said offices, voting places will be opened on the dates stated below for the purpose of voting.
