• Council has made several inquiries with companies and organizations who deal with cell phone coverage and high speed internet. Discussions indicate that improvements are in the preliminary planning stages.

• The Fitness Centre room at the Community Centre boasts new equipment that has been purchased with the assistance of the Trillium Foundation. John Chellew, who manages the fitness centre, has completed physical improvements to the fitness room making it a bright, inviting facility.

• Major improvements to Fire Station #1 are substantially complete. Please plan to attend our official opening when advertised. This expansion affords sufficient space to house our fire equipment. We now have a safe, improved training room and administration space for our volunteer firefighters. This project was made possible with the assistance of the Federal and Provincial Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.

• To extend the life of our landfill sites, Council recently approved the purchase of a used excavator to compact waste materials. This machine will also place landfill cover to provide protection from nuisances such as litter sprawl, bears, pests and odours.

• We finally lost the “battle of the repairs” with our old road grader and decided it was prudent to trade it in on a new John Deere grader.
