TOWNSHIP OF NIPISSING
Tuesday, May 9, 2017

A regular meeting of the Township of Nipissing Council was held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

Present: Mayor Tom Piper, Councillors Linda Andersen, Tom Butler, Tom Marchant and Liz Smith.

Staff and visitors present: Christopher Brown, Wendy Kaufman, Jamie Robinson, Doug Walli, Leslee Lawrence Straus, John-Paul Negrinotti, Kris Croskery-Hodgins and Charles Barton.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Disclosure of pecuniary interest: None.

Christopher Brown and Wendy Kaufman from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs provided an overview and options for consideration regarding the Township of Nipissing’s request for consent and subdivision granting authority.

Jamie Robinson, MHBC Planning, provided a progress report on the Official Plan update and outlined the next steps.

R2017-088 L. Smith, T. Marchant: That the minutes of the meeting held April 18, 2017 be adopted as published. Carried.

R2017-089 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That the minutes of the closed meeting held April 18, 2017 be adopted. Carried.

R2017-090 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That we pass By-Law Number 2017-18, being a By-Law to adopt the estimates for all sums required for the year, to provide for the adoption of tax rates and to further provide for penalty and interest in default of payment thereof for 2017.
Read a first, second and third time and passed this 9th day of May, 2017. Carried.

R2017-091 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we award Tender N-01-17, Quarried Granite – Stockpile to Evan Hughes Excavating at a cost of $37,431.25, including all applicable taxes. Carried.

R2017-092 L. Smith, T. Marchant: That we award Tender N-02-17, Quarried Granite – Supply, Crush and Apply to P. D. Brooks Haulage and Construction at a cost of $173,113.18, including all applicable taxes. Carried.

R2017-093 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That we award Tender N-03-17, Quarried Granite – Supply, Crush and Apply to Evan Hughes Excavating at a cost of $52,174.36, including all applicable taxes. Carried.

R2017-094 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That we award Tender N-04-17, Surface Treatment to Bruell Contracting Ltd. at a cost of $152,901.45, including all applicable taxes. Carried.

R2017-095 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we award Tender N-05-17, Winter Sand to A Miron Topsoil Ltd. at a cost of $39,030.20, including all applicable taxes. Carried.

R2017-096 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That we donate $100 to the Trout Creek Agricultural Society 2017 Fall Fair. Carried.

R2017-097 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That we accept the correspondence as presented. Carried.

R2017-098 L. Smith, T. Marchant: That the statement of accounts dated: April 19 and 24; May 2 and 9, 2017; totaling $134,776.61, be approved. Carried.

R2017-099 T. Butler, L. Andersen: That we accept the Request for Quote for Pulverizing of Road Surface from Greenwood Paving (Pembroke) Ltd. for a cost of: Job #1 $7,450.00 and Job #2 $2,400.00 including all applicable taxes. Carried.

R2017-100 L. Andersen, T. Butler: That we pass By-Law No. 2017-19, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on May 9, 2017. Read the first, second and third time and passed this 9th day of May, 2017. Carried.

R2017-101 T. Marchant, L. Smith: That the meeting be adjourned. Time: 9:02 p.m. Next regular meeting May 23, 2017. Carried.
